You may or may not have been a fan of the show, The Walking Dead.
It was a hit TV show from over a decade ago, when zombie movies and shows were all the rage. My husband (boyfriend at the time) wanted to have a show that we could watch together, so I got caught up on the first 3 seasons.
I started to see zombies everywhere in real life. If I saw a person walking slowly around the park or with a slight limp, my first thought would be, “zombie.” I’d have dreams and nightmares about zombies taking over at movie theaters. In short, I almost started to believe these zombies were real.
I could talk myself out of it and settle down, until the next episode, the next dream, or the next uncommon human walked into my field of view.
Then one random day, as I was watching a battle scene in one of the episodes. A main character was fighting twin zombies – and she was dominating. Then I saw it. The mistake was small, but there was a delay in the computer generated imaging and I saw pink/blue/green coloring where it shouldn’t have been. At that moment, I saw the fakeness of the show.
That’s the day I stopped watching, I stopped caring, and I stopped seeing or dreaming of zombies. All that happened, is that I saw that it wasn’t actually real.
Thoughts are the same way.
Your thoughts that being healthy is hard, your thoughts about how mean the world is, your thoughts about how hard life is, that there is no solution to your pain. They are exactly like this show. They look real, but the moment you see they aren’t, they don’t have a hold on your life anymore.
You are finally free, from zombies, and other limiting ideas of what you can do and be in the world.
